    WELCOME TO MARYLAND DANCE PROJECT

Welcome to the Maryland Dance Project family. We are committed to providing high-quality dance education in a positive, structured, and inspiring environment where dancers can grow both technically and personally.

Our programs are designed to build confidence, discipline, teamwork, and a lifelong love of movement. We believe in fostering a culture of respect, accountability, and excellence while creating meaningful performance opportunities for every dancer.

We are grateful to partner with our families in supporting each student’s development throughout the dance season.

    OUR MISSION

Maryland Dance Project strives to provide professional-level dance training in a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages artistic growth, personal responsibility, and strong character. We are dedicated to helping dancers reach their full potential both inside and outside of the studio.

    SECTION 1 — STUDIO OVERVIEW

    Non-Discrimination Policy

Maryland Dance Project is committed to providing an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment for all dancers, families, staff, and community members.

The studio does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, military status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.

This policy applies to all aspects of studio operations, including but not limited to student enrollment, class placement, participation opportunities, hiring and retention of staff, selection of volunteers and vendors, and the delivery of programs and services.

Maryland Dance Project is dedicated to fostering a positive environment where all individuals are treated with dignity and respect.

The organization is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment. Any student, dancer, parent, staff member, or volunteer has the right to raise concerns, ask questions, or file a complaint in good faith without fear of retaliation.

Retaliation in any form is strictly prohibited. Retaliation includes, but is not limited to, intimidation, threats, exclusion, negative treatment, reduction of opportunities, harassment, or any adverse action taken because an individual reported a concern, participated in an investigation, or supported another individual in raising a complaint.

Any person who believes they have experienced retaliation should report the concern to studio leadership immediately. Reports of retaliation will be taken seriously and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal from programs, termination of employment, or removal from participation.

All complaints and related information will be handled as promptly and confidentially as possible.

    Code of Conduct

Maryland Dance Project is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all students and families. All dancers and families are required to adhere to the following Code of Conduct at all times, including during classes, rehearsals, performances, and all studio-related events.

    Student Code of Conduct

    Students are expected to:

    • Demonstrate respect toward instructors, staff, peers, and all studio property

    • Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to participate

    • Maintain a positive attitude and show commitment to their training

    • Follow all classroom instructions and studio policies

The following behaviors are not permitted:

    • Bullying, gossip, or exclusionary behavior

    • Disruptive or unsafe conduct

    • Disrespectful communication or actions toward staff or peers

Failure to meet these expectations may result in:

    • Removal from class

    • Removal from routines or performances

    • Suspension or dismissal from the program

Parent / Guardian Code of Conduct

Parents and guardians are expected to:

    • Demonstrate respect toward instructors, staff, dancers, and other families

    • Communicate concerns in a professional and appropriate manner directly with studio leadership

    • Refrain from gossip, confrontational behavior, or undermining staff decisions

    • Support studio policies, including attendance, rehearsals, and performance expectations

    • Ensure timely payment of tuition, fees, and costume costs

Failure to meet these expectations may result in:

    • Restricted access to studio spaces or communications

    • Removal of the student from classes, rehearsals, or performances

    Studio Authority & Enforcement

Maryland Dance Project reserves the right to:

    • Remove a student from a class or session due to unsafe, disruptive, or inappropriate behavior

    • Disenroll a student or family for violations of the Code of Conduct

Removal or disenrollment due to conduct violations will not result in refunds or credits.

    Observation & Classroom Expectations

To maintain a focused and productive learning environment, parents and guardians may not enter studio classrooms during class time without prior approval from an instructor or studio leadership. Unplanned interruptions can be disruptive and distracting to dancers and staff.

Families are also asked to avoid hovering near observation windows, knocking on windows, or using hand signals or gestures to communicate with dancers during class. These actions can interrupt instruction and impact students’ concentration.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us provide a structured, respectful, and distraction-free training environment.

    Lobby Capacity, Pick-up, & Drop-Off Procedures

Due to limited lobby space, single-parent drop-off is strongly preferred whenever possible. Families are encouraged to minimize the number of individuals remaining in the lobby to help maintain a safe, comfortable, and organized environment for all students and staff.

Parents and guardians are not required to remain at the studio during their dancer’s class. However, a parent or guardian must remain on site for dancers who are not fully potty trained or who may require assistance during class.

The studio appreciates families’ cooperation in helping us manage space effectively and create a positive experience for everyone.

Parents and guardians are expected to pick up dancers promptly at the scheduled end time of each class or rehearsal. Timely pick-up helps ensure the safety of all dancers and allows staff to properly supervise transitions between classes.

For dancers age 10 and under, a parent or guardian must enter the studio lobby for both drop-off and pick-up. Young dancers may not be released to the parking lot or common areas without a supervising adult present in the lobby.

Teen dancers may be dropped off or picked up outside of the studio at the parent/guardian’s discretion.

Please note that Maryland Dance Project (MDDP) is only responsible for dancers while they are inside the studio suite located on the second floor. MDDP is not responsible for any incidents that may occur in the building’s common areas, stairwells, parking lot, or any areas outside of the studio suite.

    Lobby & Facility Conduct

To maintain a safe, clean, and respectful environment for all students, staff, and families, the following expectations apply to all lobby and common areas:

    • Children who are not actively participating in a scheduled class, including siblings and younger children, must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

    • Kids’ Corner Use: The designated children’s area must be used respectfully. Damaging equipment, excessive mess, or misuse of materials is not permitted. Items must be returned to their proper place after use.

    • Cleanliness: All personal belongings, food items, and trash must be properly disposed of. Families are expected to leave shared spaces clean.

    • Noise & Behavior: Running, yelling, or disruptive behavior in the lobby is not permitted. Conversations should be kept at a respectful volume.

    • Phone Use: Phone calls are not permitted in the lobby area. Please step outside if you need to take or make a call.

    • Classroom Respect: Parents and guests may observe classes when permitted, but must do so quietly and without disrupting instruction.

    • Recording Policy: Recording class is not permitted without prior approval from studio leadership.

    • Internet Access: Public Wi-Fi is not available for guest use.

Failure to follow these expectations may result in:

    • Verbal reminders or warnings

    • Restricted access to lobby or waiting areas

    • Further action in accordance with the Code of Conduct

    SECTION 2 — ENROLLMENT & FINANCIAL POLICIES

Maryland Dance Project charges, and you agree to pay, tuition at the rates listed on the registration page for the academic year (September through May). Enrollment is for the full academic year, and families are responsible for full-term tuition.

Tuition reflects the annual cost of participation, which is divided into monthly installments for convenience. Monthly payments are not based on the number of classes attended per month, but rather represent the total yearly tuition split into equal payments.

All tuition payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.

    Enrollment Window
Enrollment for the 2026–2027 academic year will close on February 1, 2027. Students who enroll after December 1 are required to pay all applicable recital and costume fees in full at the time of enrollment, in addition to any prorated tuition and registration fees.

Enrollment in classes after December 1 indicates a commitment to participate in recital preparations and performances. Costume ordering timelines and production deadlines require that these fees be paid immediately upon registration.

    Annual Student Registration Fee
Upon registration, a non-refundable Annual Student Registration Fee of $35 is due.

    Minimum Commitment
All enrolled students are subject to a two-month minimum financial commitment.

    Costume & Performance Fees
The following fees are due in full by December 1:

    • Recital Performance Fee – $140
Includes first costume, professional photography and videography, recital T-shirt, and recital staffing and production costs. This fee does not include tickets. Tickets will be available for purchase in April.

    • Costume Fee – Minimum of $90 per class

Please note: December 1 is reserved for costume and recital fees only. No tuition installment is due on this date.

    Tuition Installment Schedule

    Payment Policy

Maryland Dance Project offers ongoing enrollment, and tuition will be prorated for students who begin classes mid-month.

All accounts must maintain a valid payment method on file. If a payment is declined, blocked, or otherwise unsuccessful, a $20 declined transaction fee will be applied to the account. In addition, a late fee of $20 per day will be assessed until the outstanding balance is paid in full.

Tuition is based on enrollment and class placement rather than attendance. Therefore, no tuition credits or refunds will be issued for missed classes, holidays, camps, or other absences.

Accounts that remain 30 days or more past due may result in the student being removed from class participation until the balance is resolved or alternate payment arrangements have been approved by the Director.

    Credit Card Authorization Policy

By enrolling in Maryland Dance Project and providing a valid credit or debit card on file, you authorize the studio to charge your card for all applicable tuition, fees, and charges associated with your account.

    Class Placement & Switching Policy

I/we understand and agree that all costs associated with emergency medical care or treatment are the sole responsibility of the parent/guardian and will be paid directly to the hospital, physician, or medical facility providing such care.
